Three Pagosa Springs High School graduates are this year’s recipients of the Eddie Oldham Memorial Scholarship. Kim Hunsicker, Kalie Ray, and Kelsy Sellers have each been awarded a $750.00 annual scholarship.

Kim Hunsicker has been active in local 4-H since she came to Pagosa five years ago. She has served as Club President, Secretary, and Treasurer and participated in the Leadership Development Conference and Youth Fest. She will be attending Northwestern Oklahoma State University and plans to study special education.

Kalie Ray has been active in 4-H for the past 10 years. She’s been a Master Showman for the past two years at the National Western Stock Show. She’ll be attending Colorado State University and studying Biological Sciences.

Kelsy Sellers was active in the 4-H Vet-Tech program and is a member of the National Honor Society and a volunteer for the Special Olympics. She will also be attending Colorado State University in Fort Collins and will be in the “pre-vet” program.

The Eddie Oldham Memorial Scholarship is a renewable scholarship awarded annually to at least one applicant who has been involved in the 4-H program. This scholarship has given many collegians financial support over the last twenty one years. The scholarship is the only true 4-H renewable scholarship offered.

The Eddie Oldham Memorial Scholarship was established in 1991 and is overseen by Ike Oldham and his wife Sharron. The scholarship was established when their son Eddie Oldham was tragically killed in an accident in 1989.

The fourth annual Fundraiser Trail Ride, Auction and Bar-B-Q will be held in the Blanco Basin this coming July 21st. More information is available by contacting Archuleta County Extension office at 264-5931.
