The Pagosa Ranger District of the San Juan National Forest provides free, entertaining, interpretive and informational programs for the public at various times and locations during the summer. One such event will happen on Wednesday, August 1.
 For many years, Peggy Bergon has collected photographs of arborglyphs: carvings on Aspen done by Hispanic sheepherders dating from the late 1800’s to the early 1950’s. On this three mile walk you will see many of their writings and artwork while learning about the early sheep industry.
Due to the nature of the walk, it is limited to 12 participants. We will meet at the Buckles Lake Trailhead (south on 84 for about 19 miles and then 7 miles up Buckles Lake Road) on Wednesday, August 1 at 9:00am and walk will go to approximately 11:00am.
